Brooklyn Van Hell has been dancing at the Alberta Dance Academy for fourteen years. Starting at the age of three, being very shy and new to the community, Brooklyn’s mom wanted her to make new friends and decided dance would be a good fit. Ever since then dance has become a passion. Brooklyn has explored different genres such as tap, jazz, contemporary and lyrical but found that ballet is what she loves the most. As a competitive student Brooklyn was able to gain performance experience and appreciate how hard work and dedication can be very rewarding. An example of this arose last summer when Brooklyn had the opportunity to dance under Stacey Tookey. The entire experience was filmed and aired on the Family Channel.

Following graduation, Brooklyn hopes to become an RAD certified teacher and begin her studies as an occupational therapist. Brooklyn looks forward to helping students learn new things as well as learning things from her students.

Hip Hop

Amelia grew up in England and started ballet when she was two. She was was too shy to keep dancing, even while at 10 months watching Top of The Pops she would mimic the dancers on tv.

At the age of 5 Amelia and her family moved to Ontario where she Hip Hop. A year later they moved to Okotoks. Taking a break from dance, Amelia took lessons in drums, singing, soccer, swimming and karate. In the 6th grade she came back to dance. She was still shy, but Miss Charli and Miss Erica helped her come out of her shell and improve!

At the age of 16, being at the studio she is entering into her 6th year with ADA and it keeps getting better each year! Amelia trains in jazz, hip hop, acro, ballet, and contemporary. Additionally, Amelia is excited to be going into her 4th year of assisting, as well as starting her journey as a junior teacher! She is so grateful for her Dance Family, as it’s the best second family you could ever ask for!
