About Us

Why use WORDS when DANCE speaks volumes?
The Alberta Dance Academy opened its doors in Okotoks in 1990, there's nothing like the experience of working with children! Our studio's constant growth in the last 18 years has mainly been through our positive reputation and parent/student referrals. To date, we teach more students than all of the other dance studios in Okotoks combined.
Entering its 20th season, The Alberta Dance Academy pleased to further develop its newest endeavour: The Acrylics a pre-professional performance troupe. Lead by University of Calgary Dance Majors: Erica Harding and Danielle Hannigan. Troupe members will discover effective audition techniques, basic anatomy and muscle function, the creation process of choreography, as well as the staging, lighting, designing, and advertising of a show. The overall purpose of the program will be to introduce the dancers to the artistic and performance side of dance. All dancers must pass an audition process to be accepted. This program will coexist with the already successful Competitive Program.
Dancers at The Alberta Dance Academy train in a top notch professional facility which includes three studios equipped with Sprung Wood and Harlequin Dance floors, full length mirrors, and barres; all of which are essential tools for creating a strong technical dancer. In addition, dancers have access to the student lounge where they can eat and focus on school studies.
Along with the top notch facility, ADA has a stellar cast of qualified instructors. Miss Erica Harding, Miss Dani Hannigan, Ms. Courtney Niebergall, Ms. Deanna Witwer, Miss Erin Kerr, Ms. Sarah Broadley, Miss Meagan Bamford, Miss Linda Hovagimian, and Miss Charli Atkins will guide students through all kinds of fun and exciting movement, from ballet to hip hop. Complementing their diverse performance experience, talent and teaching abilities, senior instructors have post-secondary education in dance, dance instruction and kinesiology. In 2009, the Academy's instructors were proud to have several of their students win awards in regional dance competitions, and are looking forward to competing in 2010!
