About Us

Dance School is voted "Best Place to Dance" for the 4th Straight Year

Thank you to all of our supporters that voted for us in the Best of the Foothills Readers Choice Awards

NOW IN OUR 21ST SEASON!

The Alberta Dance Academy opened its doors in Okotoks in 1990, and there's nothing like the experience of introducing the performing arts to children! Our studio's consistent growth over the past 21 years is a result of our solid reputation and family referrals. To date, we teach more students than all of the other dance studios in Okotoks combined.

ADA has something for everyone including both the competitive and recreational dancer, ages 2 to Adult! We offer Ballet, Contemporary, Creative Movement, Conditioning, Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, & Tap.

NEW classes for 2011/2012!
ACRO – a combination of acrobatics and dance
ZUMBA – a Latin Dance Fitness class for Adults
Intermediate Foundation & Intermediate Ballet – RAD Vocational Syllabus

Specialized programs for younger dancers include Parent & Tot sessions and combination classes like Ballet/Jazz/Tap. ADA Adult classes are offered in 8-week sessions this year we are offering Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop and of course ZUMBA!

We offer a nurturing, and positive environment for our students and encourage every child to reach their full potential. At Alberta Dance Academy we strive to find a balance between structure, discipline, and FUN! So regardless of ones age or ability ADA will help you discover your passion for dance!

Dancers at The Alberta Dance Academy train in a professional facility, which includes three studios equipped with Sprung Wood and Harlequin Dance floors, full-length mirrors, and barres; all of which are essential tools for creating a strong technical dancer. In addition, all tree studios have been outfitted with brand new stereos with help from our Parents Association! Finally, dancers have access to the student lounge where they can eat and focus on school studies.

Along with our top-notch facility, ADA has a qualified and committed cast of instructors: Ms. Erica Harding BA Dance, Ms. Courtney Niebergall ARAD RTS, Ms. Linda Hovagimian Gilbert Certified, Ms. Tiffaney Chin Zumba Certified, and 1 year away from completing her RAD & ADAPT Training Programs, Ms. Charli Atkins Gilbert Training Program, Ms. Sarah Broadley, and introducing: Ms. Meghan Bailey BA Dance, Ms. Melissa Klassen ADAPT, NCCP L3; Ms. Alison Mercier and Ms. Emily McKay! Our teachers will guide students through all kinds of exciting movement from ballet to hip hop. Complementing their diverse performance experience and teaching abilities, senior instructors have post-secondary education in dance, dance instruction and kinesiology, as well as certification in Al Gilbert, ADAPT and Royal Academy of Dance syllabuses.

In 2011, our competitive students won several awards in regional dance competitions, as well as participated in the Central Alberta Dance Festival Dance Off. We are looking forward to competing again in the upcoming year. The Alberta Dance Academy is pleased to further develop The Acrylics: a pre-professional performance company, led by Erica Harding. Company members will discover effective audition techniques, basic anatomy and muscle function, and the creation process of choreography. The overall purpose of the program will be to introduce the dancers to the artistic, performance side of dance. The Acrylics program will coexist with the already successful Competitive Program.
