Where as the “The Vocational Graded Syllabus is the continuation of classical ballet training … it also stands alone as a full training regime … and is geared towards those engaging in the serious study of ballet.” For more information on RAD please visit www.radcanada.org.

Pointe:

Dancers will learn to dance “en pointe”, which means to dance on the tips of their toes or feet. To do this, dancers must demonstrate a certain level of strength and technique in their core, ankles and feet. Dancers must dance a minimum of 2 hours a week for at least 3 years to be considered for pre-pointe training. Beginning at grade 3/4, dancers will have the option to purchase pre-pointe shoes. Please bring your shoes to the studio to be approved by your ballet instructor. After that, you may sew on elastics and ribbons. Following that dancers will naturally graduate to pointe shoes dependant on technical level and age, as determined by instructor. If you have any further questions about pointe training, please contact the office at info@albertadanceacademy.com and we will be happy to answer all your questions!

Dress Code:

Dress code for pointe is the same as ballet.

  • Students are asked to bring ALL of their ballet shoes to every class, soft shoes, pre-pointe and pointe shoes.  Dancers will determine when they should change their shoes in class.
  • If you need to purchase shoes, please confirm with your instructor or the office.
