Attendance

If your dancer is going to miss class due to illness or otherwise, please inform us via phone or email.

All students are expected to maintain good attendance in each class. Missed classes cause your dancer to fall behind, and ultimately could bar your dancer from participating in competition or recital.

The Alberta Dance Academy's costs are fixed, and therefore individual class absences do not equal a reduction in expenses. Please see our generous make-up policy discussed below.

Cancellation Policy

One-month notice must be given in WRITING prior to the withdrawal from a class, and delivered to the front desk prior to the 1st of the month.

After February 1st no refunds will be given; therefore, it is recommended that your dancer complete the year. Students may transfer to another class as long as space permits.

Adult sessions and Parent &Tot sessions will not be refunded after the start of the session.

All exam fees, Competition fees, Competition Showcase and Recital Tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE.

Class Duration

Adult Sessions are 8 weeks in length. Parent & Tot Sessions are 16 weeks in length.

All remaining classes will run from September to June. Tuition is based on a minimum of 34 classes a year. This includes all statutory holidays and school breaks. Total tuition is divided into 9 payments.

Class Placement

Should the level the student was originally registered in be inappropriate, ADA reserves the right to move that child to a more suitable level.

Class Viewing

Parents are invited to watch classes from the lobby through our view mirrors. Additionally, parents will be invited into the classroom to observe once a year. Please see our Schedule of Holidays and events for the dates.

Competition

A placement audition will take place in September/October. Dancers wishing to compete MUST attend the audition. Dancers MUST take ballet in order to compete. Please be aware, not all students may be emotionally or technically ready to participate in competition.

Competitive dancers must have a strong commitment to all classes and rehearsals including Competition Showcase. All competition rehearsals will take place outside of class time. Dancers wishing to do a solo MUST participate in Ballet Exams. Please see our Competition Handbook for more details.

Dress Code

The Alberta Dance Academy has a dress code. Failure to comply may lead to the dancer being excused from class exams. Please be aware, not all students will be emotionally or technically ready to experience exams. As such, our teachers will invite those students who are capable to partake. Competition Soloists MUST participate in exams.

Liability

The Alberta Dance Academy Ltd. will not assume liability for any lost or stolen property, or for any bodily or personal injury consisting of/or arising out of any participant practicing or participating in any physical training at or away from the Alberta Dance Academy. To avoid such issues ADA strongly recommends that students are not left unattended.

Any person found causing damage to the studio would be held liable for the cost of repairs.

The Alberta Dance Academy Ltd. Reserves the right to use photographs and videos taken of our program activities in any advertisements and promotions.

Make-Up Policy

Classes may be “made up” in another class of similar style, age and ability as long as is space available. Make-ups must be made in the same session and cannot carry over. Please contact us via phone or email to arrange your make-up class.

Payment

The Registration Fee, First & Last month fees and Costume Deposit are due upon registration and are non-refundable. Students will not be considered registered until all payments and arrangements have been made; and therefore may not participate in class until that time.

Fees may be paid in full, or monthly. All fees paid monthly must be in the form of Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or Debit from a Credit Card. Sorry, No Exceptions. A $20.00 administration fee will be applied to ALL Returned Payments.

Professionalism

All Students and Parents involved with the Alberta Dance Academy will conduct themselves in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Recital

All classes, excluding the Parent & Tot sessions, will participate in the year-end recital. This performance will be held in a theatre venue in May or June. As such, a costume will be required for all performers. All Students are expected to be in attendance at both Dress Rehearsal and the Year-End Recital. Tickets must be purchased to attend the show.
